The subject of our latest offering of Recouture’s work is in collaboration with Stash, one of New York’s most impactful artists, prolific and instrumental in birthing and spreading the culture around streetwear and sneakers, through groundbreaking contributions of products, concepts, and collaboration.
A special edition of Recouture’s work offered exclusively at Blue in Green, the subject is a reconstruction of Stash’s collaboration on the Air Max 95 silhouette from 2006, a shoe that shocked and inspired the landscape of sneaker culture, resonating until this day as one of the most celebrated Air Max 95 of all time and often referred to as the best.
The midsole of each pair have been spray painted by Stash, elevating each shoe past it’s initial function, each to a one of a kind work of art. Further commemorating the collaborative efforts between the two, each pair comes in a special rendition of Recouture’s standard packaging. In addition to painting each shoe, Stash personally customized the packaging with spray paint at his studio in Brooklyn in the weeks leading up to the launch of the project.
Reconstructed in Japan by RECOUTURE at his Shibuya Atelier, featuring a leather welt down construction, an EVA midsole, and Vibram 2002 outsole, and leather laces, the shoe is respectful to the original while being forward, daring, and playful to bridge together the old and the new. Each pair comes with a handmade bag by NY local artist Makayla Wray, utilizing fabric pieces and hardware she had already in her studio making them all incredibly unique one of one’s.
