Glenn Liburd grew up in Trinidad, where he originally became enamored with denim as it took hold of American culture in the 70’s and 80’s. He honed his skills in the garment industry in his home country, and in 2001, Glenn moved to NYC. Gradually, Glenn worked to carve his own place in the American denim industry. By 2019, with 30+ years of experience under his belt, it was time to form his own eponymous brand: Glenn’s Denim. Glenn’s story is a true American story–coming to America and making it with lots of hard work, heart and soul.
Glenn’s Denim fulfills the “Made in the USA” promise in every respect. Not only are the jeans designed and sewn in NYC on vintage industrial machines; the denim itself is woven stateside, which is extremely rare nowadays. There are few denim weavers left in the country, but Glenn has been collaborating with a small, artisanal weaver in the South to produce small batches of denim on a Draper X3 shuttle loom. Some of the only American selvedge on the planet, it’s recognizable by its green and white selvedge, natural irregularities and incredible hand.
