At the same time as the M-65 parka was developed, a removable liner was also developed as a measure against the cold. The liner is made of nylon and quilted with polyester padding to prevent the padding from moving. The use of these chemical fibers has succeeded in making the jacket lighter than the wool pile that had been used up until that point while still retaining its warmth. The cuffs have tabs for attaching the liner, which is inherited from the M-50 field jacket. Although this liner was not originally intended to be worn alone, it can be worn alone by attaching buttons, and pockets have been added to enhance its functionality.
